How to get rid of tanned skin – 5 Home remedies that work

Getting tanned skin is one of the unwanted things besides other skin problems. The skin usually gets a darker skin tone during tanning which one wants to get rid of.

Tan is usually caused by the skin’s ability to produce melanin to absorb the UV rays of the sun. The more the skin produces melanin, the darker the skin tone gets.

Longer hours of sun exposure are too dangerous for the skin. Dermatologists all over the world often recommend applying sunscreen before exposing yourself to the sun.

It is also a good practice to carry an umbrella or wear clothes which will cover the maximum part of the body.

If you have, however, been tanned, here are few home remedies that are extremely useful in getting rid of tanned skin very fast.

  1. Aloe Vera
  2. Turmeric
  3. Citric fruits
  4. Coffee
  5. Ripe Papaya

Now lets learn a bit about each of these remedies…

1. Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is known to be a very effective herb in reducing tanned pigmentation.

It generally soothes the skin and has anti-inflammatory properties that reduce the darker skin tone caused by the tanning of the skin.

You can use an Aloe Vera cream or gel or you can have the aloe vera stem.

Do not use the raw aloe vera stem directly on your face as this may irritate. Try to mix rose water or vitamin E capsule with it.

Try this remedy at least 6 days a week and you can soon notice the desired result.

2. Turmeric

Turmeric is certainly the most used item for the treatment of the skin since the time of Ayurveda.

It has plenty of properties like healing scars, brightening the skin tone, reduces acne and tiny bumps, and also works well internally such as purifying the digestive system.

It is very effective in fading away skin tans and making the skin tone more even.

You can use turmeric essential oils, turmeric gel or you can make a paste of raw turmeric to apply on the skin. You have to apply this paste daily to get results fast.

3. Citric fruits

Citric fruits are well workable on skin tans. The mild acid of citric fruits helps to get rid of the stubborn skin burn caused due to tan.

Rubbing a slice of citrus fruit like lemon is a good alternative for sunscreen. But make sure the lemon juice is diluted before you put it on the skin.

Although the acids are effective in removing tan, they may also cause skin damage or irritation because the facial skin is usually very sensitive.

You can also apply tomato juice, as the mild acid in tomatoes is also effective in reducing skin tan.

You can make packs of besan (gram flour) and squeeze lemon juice or tomato juice.

Apply this pack twice or thrice a week to get the best results.

4. Coffee

Caffeine is an excellent agent for removing tan and dead skin cells.

It makes the skin lighter and protects the skin from any damage. For this, you have to take the coffee powder in a bowl, apply rose water or milk.

Mix them well into a fine paste and apply the mixture to the tanned skin. Massage the paste in a circular motion for 5-10 minutes and then rinse off with cold water.

Apply these thrice a week to get better results.

You can also buy the mCaffeine Face Wash and Scrub for better results.

5. Ripe Papaya

Ripe papaya is a wonder fruit when it comes to dealing with skin tans. This fruit is rich in an enzyme called papain which helps in lightening skin tone and is effective in removing dark patches and blemishes from the skin.

Mash a papaya and add yogurt to it. Mix them well and apply the paste.

Keep it on your face for 20 minutes and then rinse it off well.

You can use it twice a week or you can also use an anti-tan papaya face pack which is easily available on any online shopping site.

Sun rays are extremely damageable to the skin. The longer the skin is exposed to UV A and UV B rays, the higher the skin is susceptible to carcinogenic diseases.

Precautions need to be taken so that your skin remains healthy life long.

Make your skin presentable and glowing and don’t let the sun tan take away your glamour and glow of your skin in your busy life.
